An attempt to demolish 5 more Hindu houses

On morning of 20th of March Hindus, TV reporters from several channels came to the spot of demolition. Soon workers came equipped with crow bars and sledge hammers for destroying the homes. An electrical arrived and prepared to disconnect the energy supply to the community and to prepare everything for the destruction.

Proposed Solution to the Kazakh Krishna Crisis

The Kazakhstan Government has confiscated 116 acres of land from the Religious Organization Society for Krishna Consciousness. As a proposed solution to the conflict the government has offered 5 acres of land in an arid area and has declared this to be a happy ending to the conflict.

Hindus bracing for next round of attacks

Almaty – Impervious to international outcry, government officials in the Central Asian country of Kazakhstan have intensified their attacks against members of the Hare Krishna religion, a Vaishnava Hindu tradition. A local court ordered more homes belonging to the Krishna devotees to be demolished, the Associated Press reported, threatening to leave more families homeless in freezing temperatures at any moment.

European Parliament: Attacks on Hare Krishna in Kazakhstan

The fact that the 13 partly demolished houses were all of Krishna fellows led some observers to talk about harassment against religious minorities. According to independent observers, the court case is carried out in violation of the procedural code. The Commission will continue to watch the situation and raise the issue in its regular contacts with Kazakhstan at the apropriate occasion.

Hindus were sentenced in their absence

On 30th of January Chairman of Society for Krishna Consciousness came to the Karasai District Court. He submitted and registered an application with the request to postpone the case. The judge Zhailybayev told SKC Chairman to go and said that he will be informed by the court about the date of the hearing. Then court hearing started without representatives of SKC. Society for Krishna consciousness lost the case.

3 more Hindu houses to be demolished

The notifications for demolition of 3 summer cottages of Hindus, Lelchuk and Ustmanova, were delivered to one of the owners.  The notifications were dated by 29th of January, 2007. On 2nd of February the 5 days given by court executive for willful demolition would be expired.

Hindus are questioned by Financial Police

The Hare Krishna commune member was invited to Kaskelen financial police office of investigator Bahyt Babayev. Babayev explained that she is invited because her son-in-law Hibatullin is under investigation for the criminal case on forgery of documents, on the basis of Criminal Code, article 325 part 1. She was asked few questions about her son-in-law location, position, occupation etc.
