An attempt to demolish 5 more Hindu houses

On January 18, 2007 the Karasai District Court issued decisions for evacuation and demolition of 5 homes of the members of the Krishna Society in Kazakhstan. The court did not inform the defendants of the case, did not provide them with the claims, relevant documents, and did not invite them to attend the court hearing.
Later the court did not provide the defendants with the decision of the court. Not informing defendants on cases, never giving the defendants the right to appeal the Karasai District Court decision to the Almaty provincial court, court executives were sent to the cottage area to inform defendants of the demolition of their homes.

Not finding the defendants at their cottages, the court executives came to Society for Krishna Consciousness farm and left the demolition decrees dated January 29, 2007 in the office of the SKC. They did not bother to find the defendents or have them sign the decrees.

The Administration of SKC had to find the individuals in the cases and inform them of the demolition decrees.

Being shocked by the ruthless behaviour in which the court was dealing, the SKC members went to the court to enquire about the situation. Then the SKC members appealed to the Provincial Court.

As of this moment the appeal has not been heard in the provincial court. Thus the actions of the Karasai Rayon Government defy the due legal process of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On March 19, 2007 defendants came to know that demolition of their homes was planned for the next day, March 20, 2007, at 10:00 AM. Simultaneously, friends from the local villages informed SKC members that court executives had already employed local people, at good wages, to execute the destruction of the homes.

SKC members immediately contacted General Prosecutor's office and Religious Committee office and informed them about illegal actions in Karasai District.

On morning of 20th of March SKC members, TV reporters from several channels came to the spot of demolition. Soon local villagers came equipped with crow bars and sledge hammers for destroying the homes. An electrical arrived and prepared to disconnect the energy supply to the community and to prepare everything for the destruction.

At that moment a black Mercedes Benz arrived, a person emerged, and in seconds he gave the  order to stop the demolition. He then quickly re-entered his car and drove away. Then and the rest of the demolition squad disbanded.

One of the reporters on the scene explained that he had already interviewed officials at the Karasai District Executors office and the officials promised that they would return in five days.
