Officials who were at law with Hindus now will get their destroyed homes and lots

January 28th, 2007 the chief specialist of Almaty Province Land Committee Anatoli Portnyagin, the local police officer, the ex chairman of the cottage cooperative Irina Zaharchuk and a number of Karasai District Hakimat officials were at the site of the destruction of the homes of Hare Krishna community.

They were discussing how they will distribute the land plots that Hindu's destroyed homes are still standing on.

On the 25th of May 2006 above mentioned Irina Zaharchuk filed a claim against the actual successor of the summer colony namely Priozyerye. Priozyerye lost the case on 25th of December in the district court of first instance and appealed to the provincial court of second instance. Disregarding of the fact that the issue is still in the court, government officials of Karasai District have started reselling the land plots using legal documents of a different legal entity of another summer cottages society, which has no right for the plots at issue. Interesting enough some of the new owners of the destroyed homes and land plots are plaintiffs themselves. Ex owners of the plots, members of the SKC, struggled for years with Karasai District authorities to get their lots privatized, but they were refused in privatization. Just a few months ago these plots were not privatized and got destroyed by the government, but as soon as government has starred resale, Hindus assume the cottages got easily privatized, otherwise would the government be able to sell them.
