Kazakhstan demolitions feature in Rajya SabhaNew Delhi, December 2, 2006. The reported demolition in Kazakhstan of the homes of 11 Hindu families figured in the Rajya Sabha Friday, with a member demanding that the house pass a resolution condemning the action. Raising the issue during zero hour, Santosh Bagrodia of the Congress asked the government to take steps to protect the families who had been rendered homeless in the bitter cold. "The house should also pass a resolution condemning the demolitions," like the House of Commons and (British Prime Minister) Tony Blair have already done, Bagrodia said. Associating herself with Bagrodia, Bharatiya Janata Party MP Sushma Swaraj also demanded immediate action to help the affected families. |
