Kazakh Hindu met with local Government

On Monday November 27, 2006 the head of the Krishna Commune went for a scheduled appointment with BS Kutpanov, the Hakim of Karasai District. When the Krishna leader arrived he was told that Kutpanov had just left for vacation and thus there would be no meeting.

The Krishna leader left a statement on the situation with a list of requests to be addressed. He was informed that the statement would be delivered to the Deputy Hakim Nasredin Tusupov. The Krishna leader fixed an appointment to meet Tusupov on Tuesday November 28, 2006.

This morning the Krishna leader went for the appointment. They were informed that the meeting could only be conducted in the presense of Deputy Hakim on Ideology Kairat Baibaktinov. But when they went to his office his secretary said that Baibaktinov would only meet them tomorrow.

At that time the Krishna leader presented the statement of the OSCE's panel of experts to Baibaktinov's secretary. She delivered it to him, he emerged from his office immediately and told the Krishna leader to follow him to Tusupov's office.

The meeting began at 9:30. Hakimat side was represented by the Deputy Hakim Nasredin Tusupov, the deputy hakim on ideology Kairat Baibaktinov and the chief of internal policy department Gulnara Sultanova.

The Krishna spokesperson gave Tusupov the OSCE Statement and briefly described the situation. Then he addressed the deputy Hakim on our requests to stop further demolition and violence, to withdraw the Hakimat claims from court and compensate the owners of the destroyed homes.

The deputy Hakim Tusupov began screaming that we have no rights to request anything. He repeatedly screamed, "who are you, you people are nobody!" Then he screamed, "Have you informed these people about the new court cases? Do they Know?" "Then we will see you in the court." At this point the meeting finished.
