President Nazarbayev will personally deal with the land issue of Hindus in KazakhstanOn September 11, before the official opening of the forum, the coordinator of the Society for Krishna Consciousness in Central Asia Bhakti Bhringa Govinda Swami and the other members of Indian delegation met with the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, who is acting as the chairman of the Congress. The meeting was attended by the Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Kasymzhomart Tokayev and the chairman of the RK Parliament's Senate Nurtai Abykayev, as well as the head of Indian delegation S.K. Somaya. During the discussion that took place Mr. Somaya expressed his gratitude to President Nursultan Nazarbayev for conducting this international inter-religious forum and specifically stressed the fact that a big number of religions exist unrestrictedly in Kazakhstan. In opinion of the Indian guest, that fosters "the security of the country" and "the generation of new ideas." However Dr. Somaya expressed his concern about the problems that Hindus meet in Kazakhstan, as described in the letter he delivered to the President. Nursultan Nazarbayev said that he had not heard about this and promised to survey the letter and try to resolve the problem. Foreign Minister Tokayev in his turn informed the President of the commission established to investigate the issue. The President promised to the head of Indian delegation that, regardless of the commission, he would personally deal with the situation around the Society for Krishna Consciousness. |
