IRPP condemns deportation of Hare Krishna leader from Kazakhstan

The Institute on Religion and Public Policy condemns the Jan. 27 deportation of the religious leader of the International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), B. B. Govinda Swami, from Kazakhstan.

The Hare Krishna religious leader, US citizen, deported from Kazakhstan

The religious leader of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, US citizen B.B. Govinda Swami, was deported from the airport of Almaty while attempting to enter Kazakhstan. The officials have given no explanation.

The Karasai District Court continued hearing the case regarding the demolition of the only temple of the Krishna Society in Kazakhstan. Representatives of OSCE and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights were present as monitors.

Hearing on the case of demolition of the only Hindu Temple in Kazakhstan is postponed to Tuesday, October 28th 10 AM. The advocate of the members of the Hindu religion requested the court to provide him with additional documents for studying and to shift the hearing.
